Year 3 & 4 Visit to The London Sri Murugan Temple

On Friday 16th June Year 3 and 4 visited the Murugan Temple. The visit was part of RE Hindu week; having spent the week learning about Hinduism. We learned alot from the priests, who were extremely welcoming.

We learnt that there are three main gods in Hinduism: Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva. These gods are all represented in different ways and all have an animal which is symbolic to them. Animals are very sacred to Hindus as they are very respectful to all living things.

There were many beautiful statues of Hindu gods which are also treated with utmost respect. These are washed daily in rose water and coconut milk and worshippers bring flowers and fruits when they go to the temple to pray. We had a lovely time at the Murugan temple and we were enriched with knowledge about Hinduism.
